~~ The Magnificent Snow Leopard ~~
Snow leopards are beautiful and elegant creatures, they have thick fur to protect themselves from the cold of their mountainous environment. They have stocky bodies and small rounded ears which are covered in fur to stop heat from escaping their bodies, they are easy to flatten out so the snow leopard can’t be seen when it is stalking its prey. Their tails are also very thick due to storage of fat and are very thickly covered with fur, this helps when they sleep because the thick fur acts like a blanket and protects their faces when they are asleep!
Snow leopards have huge paws to help distribute its weight on the thick snow. Their paws are like the snow shoes we use when the snow is too thick to walk on. Snow leopards have very strong hind legs, which helps them complete wide jumps between ledges. These powerful cats can jump a distance of 45 feet! :O
A snow leopard’s paws are very thick and covered in fur to give the snow leopard warmth and friction on the snow-covered rocks. Snow leopards have incredibly strong shoulders which help them climb the steep cliffs and big rocks that cover their habitat.
